Copenhagen sign new right back

Vingaard faces month on sidelines

Martin Vingaard will sit out the next month of FC Copenhagen’s Superliga campaign after rupturing his calf muscle in the 0-0 draw with Silkeborg on Sunday.

The midfielder, who only last week signed an extension to his current contract to see him at the club until 2014, was replaced midway through the second half in the Mascot Stadium. He has only just returned from a cruciate knee ligament injury suffered against Chelsea FC last season.

Club doctor Morten Boesen was on had to explain Vingaard’s new injury:

- Martin has suffered a classic fiber rupture in the calf muscle. It arose during the match on Sunday when he tried to accelerate. I expect him to be incapacitated for a month.

Vingaard was also available to comment:

- It's obviously frustrating to be injured, just when I feel I'm almost up to speed and had fought my way back into the starting line-up. I will get treatment over the next few days, and will soon begin my rehabilitation. Hopefully I’ll be ready for the last decisive games of the Superliga.

Vingaard's last league goal for FCK came against SønderjyskE on 14 Nov 2010
