Asii Kleist Berthelsen and Thea Rhode join FCK Women

F.C. Copenhagen are delighted to announce the signings of Asii Kleist Berthelsen and Thea Rhode to our Woemn's first team.

The pair will join the FCK Women squad as they begin preparations for the new season this week.

"I am really happy that we can add Asii and Thea to the squad," says head of women's football Rebecca Steele.

"They are two technically skilled players with strong individual qualities and clear game intelligence. Both come with good experience from B.93 and have shown that they are able to take responsibility in the game.

"I look forward to seeing them integrate into our playing style and contribute to the dynamics of the squad, both on and off the pitch."

Berthelsen: I'm 'bringing my winning mentality'
Berthelsen began her football career in Greenland, where she helped win two Greenlandic championships with GSS Nuuk at a young age, before moving to Hjørring and playing for Fortuna. She has since also represented Sundby Boldklub and most recently B.93.

The 21-year-old striker has also made 24 appearances for Denmark U19 and scored three goals. In 2020 she was named Sportsperson of the Year in Greenland. Now she is looking forward to continuing her career at F.C. Copenhagen.

"I am really looking forward to becoming part of a club that has great ambitions for the future," says Berthelsen.

"It will be exciting to be part of it from the very beginning and to be part of building something really special.

“I am looking forward to bringing my winning mentality and lots of energy. I always work hard and want to help set a high standard – both in training and in matches. It means a lot to me to be able to lift the team and at the same time contribute to a positive atmosphere in the squad.”

Rhode: 'It is an exciting project'
Rhode is also moving from B.93, and the 21-year-old striker has previously played for Stensballe IK, Hatting IF, Lyseng IF and AGF, AaB and Fortuna Hjørring. She has also played 11 matches for Denmark U19 and scored two goals.

“I am really looking forward to starting at FC Copenhagen,” says Rhode.

“It is an exciting project that the club is working on, and I am looking forward to being a part of it. I also feel that it is the right step for my career – to enter an environment with high quality, where I can develop and at the same time be challenged by the competition for places.

"I look forward to contributing with my physique and strength, and hopefully also scoring some goals in the upcoming season."
