CV: - We expect an aggressive opposition

Super league start and the Europa League

by Carsten V. Jensen, sports director

The title sums up very accurately the start of this season. Last Wednesday our European destiny was sealed, and we can unfortunately ‘only’ look forward to the UEFA Europa League group stage this autumn. Qualification to a European group stage for the sixth consecutive year is in itself an achievement that very few teams in Europe can match. We had all hoped for a reunion with Europe’s top club tournament, but it was not be.

Conversely, the first six rounds in this year's Superliga have exceeded what one would expect. We have so far dropped just two of 18 possible points, and coming into this weekend’s fixtures we have the best goalscoring and lowest conceding rates in the league.

The fact that many see FC Copenhagen as a football club that has not only proven its worth in terms of consistent results over a long period, but also as having great potential, is evident here.

Our favourite beverage and loyal sponsor for many years, Carlsberg, doesn’t just agree with this observation, but have shown their passion for our club by expanding an already excellent relationship and creating a new standard for a Scandinavian sponsorship. This is a huge vote of confidence, and we thank those at Carlsberg for it.

Superliga action returns to PARKEN on Sunday, where Copenhagen welcome Silkeborg IF for 16:00 CEST kick off.

Troels Bech and Co. have not had the best of starts to the season, but hidden in their squad is a lot of quality, so I guess it's a matter of time before Silkeborg get a hold of their season. For our own part we should like to give a solid performance rather than just secure more points. We cannot expect that everything will run smoothly on the playing side, so it is very important that we can feel the support from our fans in PARKEN.

Welcome to the season's seventh Superliga match and welcome to the fans, players and managers from Silkeborg IF and to four officials.
