Neestrup draws positives from goalless Ludogorets friendly

F.C. Copenhagen played out a 0-0 draw against Ludogorets in the Lions' first friendly of this summer's training camp in Austria on Monday.

Reflecting on the outing, head coach Jacob Neestrup said: "We played a good first hour, and then there were a lot of substitutions in the last half hour. There were a lot of changes and chances, so it's practically a miracle that the match ended 0-0.

"But I think the first hour was good, we were good under pressure and when pressing, and with a little more sharpness we could have scored a goal or two. In the last half hour the players did well, but the relationship was lacking, because many of them haven't played together, and decision making wasn't as coordinated as for the team that played the first hour.

"But we have to live with that, and otherwise I think it was sensible, and a few of them performed well individually."

Yoram Zague and Dominik Sarapata made their unofficial debuts for FCK and played their respective halves, and the head coach was satisfied with what he saw.

"We saw their strengths, and that was the most important thing for me," says Neestrup. "We saw Sarapata's defensive maturity and his toughness, he blocked a lot and got in the way a lot, but he also needs to learn to play at a higher pace at a top team, and we'll get to that.

"We also saw Yoram's speed and breakthrough ability, and his ability to push forward, but he's also a player who needs to learn to defend in our unit, the closer we get to our own goal."

Next up for FCK is a friendly with Sparta Prague on Thursday (4pm). You can watch the game live at tv.fck.dk or via the FCK App.
