FCK reach Champions League group stage

FC Copenhagen will play in the Champions League group stage this season after a hard-fought 1-1 draw at APOEL secured the Lions safe progress.

Federico Santander lashed home four minutes from time in Cyprus to cancel out Pieros Sotiriou’s opener.

It put FCK 2-1 up in the tie after Andrija Pavlovic had secured a 1-0 first-leg win in Telia Parken a week ago.

Andreas Cornelius and Santander both went close with second-half headers before the latter picked up the ball on the right side of the box and caught goalkeeper Boy Waterman off his guard at the near post.

The result means FCK will go into today’s group stage draw, which takes place at 6pm CEST at UEFA’s headquarters in Nyon.

The Lions will be seeded in pot four of the group draw. Visit fck.dk later this afternoon to find out our opponents.
