F.C. Copenhagen sign Michael Lüftner

F.C. Copenhagen have signed Czech defender Michael Lüftner from Slavia Prague on a five-year contract.

Lüftner will join the club during the summer and he will wear shirt no. 27.

The 23-year-old is a central defender and a regular for Slavia Prague, who currently top sit of the table in the Czech First League.

He is also an U-21 international and this summer will represent his country at the UEFA European Under-21 Championship.

”Michael Lüftner is a fast, physical and positionally aware defender, and we have followed him for some time,” manager Ståle Solbakken told FCK.dk.

”He has been very good for Slavia Prague this season and proved that he can perform under pressure for a top team.

“He also has international experience from the national Under-21 team but he still has a great potential that we can develop further.”

Lüftner will join F.C. Copenhagen after the UEFA European Under-21 Championship in Poland.

“I am excited about the possibility of playing for FC Copenhagen!” Lüftner said.

“It’s the biggest club in Denmark with an impressive international record, so for me it’s a dream come true.

“But right now I will focus on the important games we have in Slavia Prague and do what I can to help the team to win the title.”
