3-0 Cup win over Aarhus Fremad earns FCK quarter-final spot
F.C. Copenhagen moved into the Danish Cup quarter-finals on Thursday with a 3-0 win over Aarhus Fremad in Jutland.
Goals from William Clem and Mohamed Elyounoussi – plus an own goal – helped the Lions successfully bypass tricky opposition to make the last-eight.
Aarhus Fremad started brightly and enjoyed a fair amount of possession in the opening minutes but the momentum shifted when a build-up error allowed Rodrigo Huescas to play a clever pass that set up Clem to score.
FCK then asserted control and Elyounoussi scored from a corner routine six minutes before half time.
The second half was more even but there was little sign of a comeback from the hosts, as Alexander Ludwig inadvertently turned a cross into his own net in the 70th minute.
Victory means FCK move into the quarter-finals after a rare mid-afternoon, mid-week kick off in front of 4,125 spectators at Riisvangen Stadion.
