Svensson satisfied with control in Sønderjyske win

F.C. Copenhagen head coach Bo Svensson says his team controlled the majority of Monday night's 2-0 win at Sønderjyske.

Felix Beijmo and Andreas Cornelius scored in the first half as the Lions secured three points, with attention now turning to the UEFA Conference League on Thursday.

Assessing the Superliga win, Svensson said: "I think we put in a good performance, and our first half in particular was really strong. We controlled the match completely and didn't allow them to create any chances.

"We were very efficient and scored from relatively few shots on target. It was also great to see how our high press led to the second goal. We’ve placed a strong emphasis on winning the ball high up the pitch and then using those turnovers to create chances.

"After the break – when they switched from a back three to a back four – there were periods where we lost a bit of control. Our tempo dropped, and we became a little too nonchalant in our approach, which was unnecessary. Still, I believe we controlled the vast majority of the match and were deserved winners."

Tight schedule this week
The Lions face Iberia in the Conference League on Thursday at 9pm, followed by a derby against Brøndby on Sunday at 12 noon, which leaves little time for recovery and preparation.

But Svensson insists plans are in place to manage the players' workloads.

"We have three matches in six days this week, and there isn't much time between a late-night match on Thursday and the derby this coming Sunday at midday," he said.

"Naturally, we are taking this into account when managing the players' workload, with the aim of performing well in these matches.

"These matches and both competitions are important to us, but we are also well aware of just how big and challenging a derby is – and how much it means to everyone."

Injury update
Regarding the options on the flanks, Robert might be fit in time for the upcoming games, whereas Thapelo Maseko will not be ready until after the international break at the earliest.

"It is possible that Robert will be ready, but today we decided not to take any risks with him, which was the sensible thing to do," Svensson added.

"Now we look ahead to the next challenges, as he is, of course, an important player for us."
