CV: - Anything can happen

Carsten V. Jensen stands down from FCK

Carsten V. Jensen has today stood down from his position as sporting director of FC Copenhagen.

CEO Anders Hørsholt spoke to FCK.dk about the decision to let CV go, following a two-decade association with the Lions.

- FC Copenhagen upholds a sporting remit that we live up to the ambitions we have for the coming years. We’re in the process of putting a new team together both on and off the field and we do not feel that Carsten V. Jensen is the right to be in charge of the process any more.

- Carsten has done more for this one club than anyone else, over many years. He is well liked and respected both professionally and personally in the club. For this we owe him a big thank you and it is also a very difficult decision we have made. But new times, new approaches and new ideas often require new forces, and we do not compromise on the ambitions we have set for FC Copenhagen for the future.

- Therefore, we believe that it was necessary to take this step now before important decisions are made about the squad and organisation in both the short and the long term.

As a consequence of the decision, head coach Ståle Solbakken will oversee the sporting management of the club, according to Hørsholt.

- We are very pleased that Ståle has agreed to take that responsibility on himself in this situation. A final decision about a permanent solution has not yet been taken. During this period, we will evaluate how our future management structure will look like.

- We have estimated that we currently have sufficient professional and managerial capacity within the club. It allows us to spend the time necessary to find the best solution for FC Copenhagen, so our strategy and ambitions for the coming years can be carried out and met.

Carsten V. Jensen arrived at FC Copenhagen in 1993 and in his time at the club has been a player, assistant coach, head coach and sporting director. FC Copenhagen wish CV all the best for the future.
