Zanka appointed new club captain

Zanka heading to PSV this summer

It was yesterday announced that FC Copenhagen captain Mathias Zanka Jørgensen has officially confirmed his switch to Dutch side PSV Eindhoven, which will take place at the end of the current season.

FCK head coach Carsten V. Jensen spoke to FCK.dk, stating:

- Zanka came to us as a young player with great talent. Since then he has developed into a player of international quality. We would have liked to have retained Zanka for many years to come, but we knew early in the autumn that this season was to be his final one at FC Copenhagen.

- We congratulate him on his new contract in Holland and I hope that the last phase of his rehabilitation goes well, so that we have the opportunity to say goodbye to Zanka on the pitch in PARKEN this spring.

Zanka came to FC Copenhagen in 2007 from B93. Since then he has played 137 matches for the club. He debuted in a Cup match against Fredericia as a 17-year-old.

Since the summer 2011, Zanka has held the status of club captain. However, due to a serious cruciate knee ligament injury suffered away to Lyngby BK in September, Zanka has been sidelined ever since.

Zanka's most recent goal came in November 2010, the last in a 4-0 win over AC Horsens
