Ståle: We're prepared for Leicester test

Ståle Solbakken believes FC Copenhagen are well prepared for whatever Leicester City bring tomorrow in their Champions League clash at Telia Parken.

FCK lost 1-0 to the Foxes in England last month - but only after Leicester goalkeeper Kasper Schmeichel produced a magnificent save to deny Andreas Cornelius a late leveller.

Copenhagen have won their three games since that defeat - which was their first of the season - scoring 12 goals.

And manager Solbakken is confident the Danish champions can put in another winning display.

“Obviously we have a better chance winning at home than away in the Champions League. That statistics say that from the four times we’ve been in the Champions League,” he said.

“I really don’t think it’s got something to do with the two recent away wins (against OB and FCM).

“It’s a different competition and a different way of playing. We are prepared and I think we have a fair chance.”

Discussing the game at the King Power Stadium, in which a Riyad Mahrez goal separated the two sides, Solbakken added: “They played like we expected - maybe even more direct than in previously games. They used Jamie Vardy a lot.

“They have never been obsessed with possession so it wasn’t a big surprise. They’ve had great success with it so why not continue.

“We were prepared, we dealt with it. Leicester created two chances. We were maybe a bit lucky with the disallowed goal.

“But holding Leicester during 90 minutes in a difficult away game is very good. Hopefully we can do that tomorrow and sneak one in ourselves.”

Captain Thomas Delaney scored in his last Champions League outing at Telia Parken, during the 4-0 win over Brugge.

And the Denmark international believes the Lions can produce another victory in front of their home fans.

“We believe in ourselves and have had made good spells in Europe,” he said.

“Our belief that we can do well against a good team like Leicester was confirmed. We were struggling some times - we’ll probably do that again tomorrow.

“I think we have more to give and it will be a different game in Telia Parken in our favour. I can’t see why we shouldn’t get a good performance and result.”

Leicester head into this clash having drawn 1-1 with Premier League title chasers Tottenham on Saturday.

And Delaney admitted the FCK players have been watching tomorrow’s opponents in action.

“It will be difficult to always have grip on Vardy going deep and Mahrez cutting inside,” he said.

“We’ve seen their last couple of games. You can’t keep those players down for 90 minutes so we need to keep them down in 89.”
