Head coach Ariel Jacobs made two changes from the XI that started against Horsens before the international break: Rurik Gislason replacing Christian Bolaños on the right wing while Daniel Jensen got the nod over César Santin up front.

Midtjylland started the brighter of the two sides and after forcing a neat early save off Johan Wiland took the lead from a long throw. The ball looped over Wiland’s area but before the goalkeeper could clear the danger Petter Andersson intercepted with a deep-lying run to bundle home the opener.

FCK pressured in the second half and Cornelius saw a penalty claim waived away before hitting the post on 53 minutes with a neat low effort. The game remained cagey as Copenhagen looked to press but a rapid Midtjylland counter attack on 72 minutes made it 2-0 to the home side.

Centre-half Jesper Julesgård surged forward on the FCM left-hand side and cut right to Mads Albæk level with the penalty area. Rather than shoot, Albæk chipped a delightful ball over to Andersson, who nodded home his second from close range.

FCK had a mountain to climb and Jacobs switched Jensen for Santin soon after the goal. Two minutes later and the substitution worked – the Brazilian sneaking inside his marker to collect Cornelius’ knockdown and deftly side-foot the ball past Jonas Lössl.

At 2-1 down Jacobs threw his men forward and Thomas Delaney replaced Ragnar Sigurdsson with a minute to go in effort to find a late equaliser. Just like the previous sub, this one worked to perfection as Delaney picked the up ball from deep and swung a wonderfully floated cross to the back post, where Cornelius rose above his man to head over Lössl and earn FCK a valuable point.
