Elias Achouri

Achouri: AGF on Sunday will be intense

Elias Achouri provided his 11th assist of the Danish Superliga season during Sunday's 2-0 win over Silkeborg in Parken – and the F.C. Copenhagen forward is proud of his hit rate.

Achouri has played 22 league games for the club this term, meaning he averages an assist every other match.

"I feel good going forward and it's a good statistic for me personally, but right now I'd rather trade some of my assists for more points for the team," says Achouri.

"I'm happy to have assisted the most goals in the Superliga so far, but it's not important who scores our goals - the only thing that counts is that we win our matches."

Two assists for Cornelius
Achouri has recently found success in picking out Andreas Cornelius in the box. Cornelius converted crosses from Achouri against both OB and FC Midtjylland, and the Tunisian says it makes all the difference when he has the Dane to target.

"His physique means a lot to the way we can play," says Achouri. "And I know where I can find him in front of goal - both with low balls, but also high crosses, where he is really strong in the air."

Physical match vs AGF
New up for FCK is Sunday's home clash with AGF in Parken. A win could move the Lions up to second place by the end of the gameweek and Achouri is aware of how tough the match will be.

"We know it will be an intense game with a physical focus," he adds. "They want to play long balls and we know they are good at set pieces, where they scored twice against us in the autumn. So we have to be smarter in the game with the ball, but also take the fight to them in one-on-one battles. We also have to be effective in front of goal when we get the chance."

FCK are six points off league leaders Brøndby with six games remaining – and Achouri still believes the team can successfully defend last season's title.

"We believe we can do it. We have to show up and win every game, but we are used to that pressure at a big club like ours - both from the environment, but also to a large extent from ourselves," he adds.

The match against AGF kicks off in Parken on Sunday at 6pm. Tickets are still available to all supporters, whether you're a regular at FCK games or visiting Copenhagen for the first time.
