FCK sign Mussis from Gimnasia

FC Copenhagen can confirm the signing of 21-year-old midfielder Franco Gabriel Mussis from Argentine side Club de Gimnasia La Plata.

Mussis underwent a medical in PARKEN before signing a five-year contract with the Danish champions. He will head back to Gimnasia to finish the Primera División season and will join his new teammates at Number 10 on 1 July.

- During the development of our scouting network in South America last autumn, our chief scout, Lars Hojer, found a player with talent and he just could not take his eyes off him, said FCK sporting director Carsten V. Jensen.

- From here, we spent time documenting Mussis on various platforms. We are therefore in no doubt that in Mussis we have obtained a player with great qualities, both offensively and defensively. He needs a bit of training to fit into our way of playing, no doubt about it, but from day one it will be clear to everyone that here is a player who sacrifices himself for the team and the club.

- This has been the longest negotiation process in the seven years I have worked in this position and therefore we are glad that an agreement is in place. Gimnasia had a great desire to keep Franco this season as he is an important player to their team during a difficult time. And the plan suits us as well, for it is tough for a young man to suddenly move to the other end of the world.

- We believe it is important to give him time and let him be in the best position possible so that he can easily fall into our system after the transfer. Now he will have six months to prepare mentally for the change and learn some necessary language skills. So we are pleased to have secured the player in good time and we now look forward to the summer.

The young Argentine is also pleased to be able to finish the job at Gimnasia and simultaneously have his future secured in Denmark.

- I am very pleased to have the opportunity of representing such a large and important a club like FC Copenhagen. I am looking forward to playing for the city and the fans, and I will bleed for the shirt from the first whistle. I am a hard-working player and I want to win matches and titles, so this is an important and correct step for me. But until then, I have a job to finished at my club in Argentina and I am grateful that this is possible, Mussis said to FCK.dk.

Mussis will wear the No.7 shirt when he joins the Lions on 1 July.
