FC Copenhagen crowned champions of Denmark

FC Copenhagen secured their 12th Alka Superliga title with a 1-1 draw at FC Nordsjælland.

Andreas Cornelius’ 66th-minute equaliser was enough for the Lions to earn a point in Farum.

The draw means Brøndby now cannot catch FCK with four games of the season remaining.

Copenhagen had Robin Olsen to thank for a string of saves that prevented fourth-place FCN from stretching their lead further after Marcus Ingvartsen scored the opener.

Andrija Pavlovic spurned two chances at the other end as FCK sought a leveller, which finally came through Cornelius, who drove home a low effort from the edge of the area.

The Denmark international, who will move to Serie A side Atalanta this summer, fired a similar effort wide in the dying minutes.

But FCK also had luck on their side when Ingvartsen missed a free header from two yards out.

The win triggered celebrations on the pitch and in the stands as FCK secured a second straight title.

The Lions also continued their unbeaten season.

Next up is a clash with Brøndby next Sunday before games with FC Midtjylland, Lyngby and SønderjyskE wrap up the league campaign.
