Neestrup: We got the three points we needed

F.C. Copenhagen returned to winning ways on Sunday with a 2-0 victory over Silkeborg in Parken.

On a day when Jesper Grønkjær was welcomed into the FCK Hall of Fame, Denis Vavro scored a rocket similar to the club legend's final strike for the Lions.

Vavro's looping shot from the corner of the box put FCK in front before half time, before Jordan Larsson made it 2-0 on the hour mark.

Discussing the match, FCK head coach Jacob Neestrup said: "It was a bit of a nervy game, but we restricted them to a couple of chances and even though we didn't create as much as we would have liked, I think we deserved to win.

"We had good periods and also time when everything cramped up and we became too passive. We just had to get the three points today. We probably wouldn't have been praised for playing them off the park and creating 10 great chances if we hadn't won.

"When you come into it having gone three games without a win, Silkeborg are not the easiest opponent because they can make you and the fans impatient. We were perhaps also a little weighed down by the circumstances but the players delivered a solid effort today. We stand here afterwards with the three points that we came for, so the task is done.

"Now a new week awaits on the training ground and if we work as hard and as determined as last week, then we will be ready to go and win the next game again on Sunday against AGF.

"That's all it's about right now, taking one game at a time and focusing on ourselves and our performances, regardless of how the other games go."

The win keeps FCK in third place in the Superliga, six points off top spot with six games remaining.
