Copenhagen sign new right back

Deadline deals

FC Copenhagen strengthened on the last day of the transfer window, singing two new payers to Ståle Solbakken’s squad. The first to arrive on Monday was Norwegian international midfielder Daniel Braaten, who signs a one-year contract with the club. The second is Austrian Georg Margreitter, a loan signing from English side Wolverhampton Wanderers.

Braaten arrives on a free transfer from French outfit Toulouse FC. He is currently with the Norway side on international duty and will join up with his new FCK teammates after the week-long break.

Sporting Director Carsten V. Jensen spoke to FCK.dk about Monday’s new arrival:

- Daniel brings both international experience and core strength into our squad and is a player who we have kept an eye on over the years. We are therefore pleased with his addition to our squad.

Braaten was on hand to discuss his reasons behind the move to Copenhagen:

- I have come to a big club, Scandinavia's football flagship in Europe and to play European football every year. I bring some experience with me from my time in international football and it's one of the things that I hope I can contribute to the squad and the club here in Copenhagen. I have more desire for football now than I ever had as a younger player, so I’m certainly not missing any hunger. I am looking forward to getting started at FCK.

Braaten has 45 caps for Norway and played 157 times for Toulouse. Before moving to France he had spells at Bolton in England and Norwegian club Rosenborg. He will wear the 22 shirt at FCK.

Defender Margreitter, meanwhile, was out with injury for most of last season but is ready to play top-flight football again. He knows Ståle from their time together at Wolves and now has a chance to play for the Danish champions. CV was also on hand to speak of Margreitter:

- Georg is a player with strong defensive qualities that we have a really good knowledge of through Ståle’s time at Wolves. After Ståle left the club Georg didn’t get much playing time and so we have the opportunity to look at him this season.

Margreitter himself also spoke to FCK.dk. Watch his interview on FCKTV here.

- I am very impressed by the size of the club after seeing the stadium and its facilities. I am proud that I am now to be part of Scandinavia’s best club. It is a very important step for me because I have not played many games recently, so I will prove myself here to the club, squad, Ståle and spectators. I will work hard, pay back the confidence shown in me and I am looking forward to getting started.

Margrietter will wear the number 15 shirt.
