Danny Amankwaa snaps Achilles tendon

Danny Amankwaa has snapped his Achilles tendon and will be out of action for six months.

The midfielder went down during FC Copenhagen’s defeat at Randers on Sunday and was immediately withdrawn from the game.

However, Ludwig Augustinsson, who also limped off the AutoC Park pitch, could be fit to play in Thursday’s DBU Cup semi-final with Esbjerg.

Club doctor Morten Boesen examined both players and had discouraging news for Amankwaa.

- Danny has unfortunately snapped the Achilles tendon and will have surgery within the next few days. This means a break of up to six months, he said.

Augustinsson got away with a sprained ankle in Jutland and is expected to train ahead of the semi-final second leg.

Christian Poulsen, who missed the trip to Randers, will hope to be ready for Thursday after nursing a hamstring problem.
