F.C. Copenhagen face BATE Borisov

Copenhagen to face Plzen

Earlier today the draw for the playoff round of qualifying for the UEFA Champions League was made, the last step before the group stages of Europe’s most prestigious club tournament. The draw in Nyon penned FC Copenhagen up against champions from the Czech Republic, Viktoria Plzen.

Viktoria Plzen, like Copenhagen, successfully came through the third round of qualifying. Plzen did what FCK managed to do in last season’s qualification route to the Champions League group stage, beating Norwegian side Rosenborg BK to progress.

The playoff round will be staged over two legs. The first match will be in PARKEN – as the Lions were drawn out first – on 16 August. The return leg on 24 August will be at Stadion Eden, Prague. Viktoria Plzen’s own ground does not meet UEFA standards, and so the club play all European home games in the Czech capital. The matches will kick off at 20:45 CET.

Information on ticket details will follow accordingly.
