FCK beat Rosenborg 5-0 in friendly

Bolaños: - Plzen will be difficult

FCK.DK spoke to Christian Bolaños on Wednesday, to ask him his views on FC Copenhagen’s possible qualification to the UEFA Champions League for a second year in succession. After a fine start to the season, Bolaños and his team have performed well, helping FCK to within two games of the Champions League and to the top of the Superliga.

Bolaños explained how last season’s performance has aided the side in the current term, and looked ahead to the Lions’ clash with FC Viktoria Plzen:

- We knew for a long time that we were champions last season, which provided us with a great sense of security and tranquillity. But now it's a new season, and as everyone knows we've got many new players and a new head coach. We start with a clean slate, and every point must be fought for once again. I think we have done well in these first matches, and it's good that we are now top of the league again and ready for the two crucial games to come in the qualification stage of the Champions League.

- We also know that this season is special, as the champions go directly into the Champions League group stage next year. The other clubs are aware of this of course, and in football so much can happen that we must do our best in every match, because there is just so much at stake.

- Personally, I think it has gone well for me. I returned to training a little later this summer, since I've played games for Costa Rica, but I think I have quickly found match pace and I also enjoy having the coach's trust. I want to pay that back and am trying to deliver my best in every game. So I am very happy.

- We meet Viktoria Plzen next week and it is a battle we know means so much to the club and all our fans. I think it will be difficult, because at this stage in the tournament there are no easy teams left. But we must do everything to win in PARKEN and provide ourselves the best starting point for the return leg. I hope we score a goal or two and keep a clean sheet.

- I also hope that there will be many supporting us in PARKEN, because as a player you can really feel the importance of support when you’re on the pitch. Also, if the game isn’t going to plan, that extra support can be what you need to boost the team.
