Stunning comeback in season opener

Vingaard leaves FC Copenhagen

The 28-year-old midfielder left FCK’s training camp in Austria and headed straight to Farum to sort out his personal terms.

Vingaard will always be regarded as a star at FC Copenhagen. He has given us some of our most memorable moments on the pitch and was a well-liked teammate off it. He is the model professional and dedicated his career to FCK through thick and thin. The fans will always remember his magnificent strike against Panathinaikos in Greece during the 2010/11 Champions League and his goal in the reverse fixture in PARKEN. We also remember the heartbreak of his injury during our away leg to Chelsea later in the tournament, when Vingaard ruptured his knee ligaments on the Stamford Bridge turf.

The club wish Martin all the best for the future and respect his desire to seek new challenges elsewhere. Over his four-and-a-half-year spell at the club he played 141 matches, netting 23 goals.

Vingaard spoke to FCK.dk about the move:

-It has been a difficult decision because FCK means a lot to me. But I have a desire to play more and therefore I am glad that I could be allowed to find a new club. FCK will always mean something special to me and have a place in my heart, because I have had many of my dreams fulfilled, such as campaigns in the Champions League and winning the Superliga.

- I want to thank you, the fans, for the support and the reception you have always given me in PARKEN. It meant and still means a lot to me. I am also grateful to Carsten V. Jensen, because he brought me to the club and gave me the opportunity to be an FC Copenhagen player with everything that entails. I'll miss everything in and around the club.
