Uroš Matic signs for F.C. Copenhagen

Matic, 26, has previously represented NAC Breda, Benfica and Kosice before joining Sturm Graz this summer. He has signed a four-and-a-half-year contract with the Danish champions.

“We are very proud and pleased that we have been able to bring Matic to FCK,” says CEO  Anders Hørsholt.

“It shows that we are an attractive club which is competitive in the European transfer market.

“It is important for us that we are constantly at the forefront in terms of having a strong squad and therefore we have acted in time for the important tasks that await both in Europe and the Superliga this spring.

Copenhagen manager Ståle Solbakken added: “He has only been in the Austrian Bundesliga since the summer but he has quickly established himself as one of the best midfielders down there, where he has shown his skills as a strong and hard-working midfielder.

“He was quick to integrate in Austria and we also expect him to quickly do so here, so he can immediately compete for places in midfield with William Kvist, Jan Gregus and Aboubakar Keita.”

Matic was at Telia Parken today and told FCK.dk: “I look forward to playing for FC Copenhagen, who in my opinion is a big international club.

“I have some knowledge of the club, because they have done very well in Europe for several years. It’s a big step in my career.

“I consider myself as a very passionate person and player, and it’s important for me to fight hard for the team and to make the fans happy.”

Matic will join his new F.C. Copenhagen team-mates on 12 January, when training begins after the winter break. He will wear jersey no. 8.
