Thomas Delaney: A fair result

FC Copenhagen were left to reflect on what could have been after the goalless draw with Leicester on Wednesday.

The Lions had a golden chance to win their Champions League clash at the death when Andreas Cornelius was denied by Foxes goalkeeper Kasper Schmeichel.

The point nevertheless keeps FCK in the hunt to progress to the Champions League last-16 stage, with Group G ties against Porto and Club Brugge to come.

And FCK.dk spoke to the Lions players after the game in Telia Parken.

Eric Johannson:

“It was close (to a near defensive performance). Both defensively and offensively we played well. We had the ball a lot and got into good positions, created a couple of chances. We were close to the winning goal there in the end.

“We’ve played a good game against the English champions so it’s a positive feeling that we have to put in to the next game.

“A lot of players are growing a lot in the European games. It’s amazing to see. We’ve got a lot of potential in this group.

Rasmus Falk:

“It was a good performance. We played very well and created the chances we expected. But we are a little bit disappointed we didn’t get a goal. But overall we played a good game.

“The coach said the performance was good, we created the chances and we kept them from making chances. So it was a good game but of course we are a little bit disappointed.

“We have confidence for the Porto game, we believe. We have to give everything in the game and see what happens.

Thomas Delaney:

“We’re happy with the way it all went. We had chances and we kept them away but it was a tough game.

“That kind of made our final decisions a little difficult. We had a couple of chances and, when we look back at it, we would have hoped to have had a few more shots not just from outside the penalty area. We were maybe a little bit too tired.

“We were struggling a little bit. Normally we see ourselves as a team that grows into games but we didn’t do that today. It can be many things: game schedule, a good opponent. But overall we still had opportunities.

“Maybe we just needed a last bit of luck to make it even better.

On the Cornelius chance: “Yeah, it’s the same story!

“We’ve seen it before but it is what you can expect from them. There’s a reason Leicester won the Premier League and you shouldn’t be surprised that when you meet a good opponent they have a good goalkeeper who makes great saves. Overall we’re happy and it was the result it should be.”
