Santander joins up with FCK squad

New FC Copenhagen striker Federico Santander got his first taste of football in Denmark today when he joined the squad for training at Number 10.

The Paraguay international had his work permit finalised this morning and began training with his new team-mates at noon.

The work permit means the 24-year-old is now available for selection in Alka Superliga fixtures and in the Europa League.

Copenhagen’s first third-round qualifying leg with Czech side FK Jablonec is on Wednesday, kick off 18:00 Danish time.

Meanwhile, long-serving goalkeeper Johan Wiland has parted company with Copenhagen.

The stopper, 34, joins Malmö FF with immediate effect.

He said: - I am 34 and need to play football and I am not at the moment. That's why I fully agree with the club to seek another solution.

- But it's hard because I have been here a long time in my career and I certainly still has many feelings for the club.

- The support I have received from the fans and people around the city has been great, so it will be difficult at first.

- But I will not move too far away and I will definitely come back and watch some matches in Telia Parken.

- To all the fans I would like to say thank you for all the support I have received. It has meant a lot to me and I love you!
