Nilsson: - Our attackers need to be on form

On Wednesday evening FC Copenhagen trained at the Stade Maurice Dufrasne, in preparation for tonight’s UEFA Europa League clash against Standard Liège. Meanwhile, the obligatory pre-match press conference was also held.

Roland Nilsson began by saying:

- Standard Liège are a good defensive team, a team that does not let many goals in, as we saw both in their first group match in Hanover, where they drew 0-0, and in their last match in the league. So if we are to win, then our attackers need to be on form. At the same time, our defence must work well, for Standard Liège also have players who can decide a match.

The Swedish head coach was asked about the relative strength between the Danish and the Belgian league, and replied:

- It's hard to say which league is the best, but we will get an answer tomorrow. Standard Liège have become a force in their league, so it may be difficult to find out.

Finally, Nilsson expressed the point that FCK were out to claim three points:

- We always go into a match with the belief that we can win, but it's an away game and Standard Liège are a good team. We need the three points but we must be smart in our game.

Dame N'Doye was also at the press conference, which was something that pleased the French-speaking journalists. N'Doye said:

- I expect that Standard Liège will have a compact defence, so I will probably not feel alone up front. We will have to fight for every ball, but the same is true for Liège; both sides must stand together as a team if they are to pull out the win. We come to get three points, although a single point may be OK, but we come to Liège to take all three points home.

There was a focus on N'Doye as one of the squad’s best players, but N'Doye emphasised the collective in the club:

- It's not a matter of some special players but that FC Copenhagen must function properly as a group, with a collective discipline, if we are to win the match. But of course, matches can also be decided by a single player.
