Mathias Zanka comes home

Mathias Zanka comes home

FC Copenhagen have agreed a three-year deal with centre-back Mathias Zanka Jørgensen that sees the Denmark international return to the capital.

Zanka has immediately switched from Dutch side PSV Eindhoven and on Monday arrived at the squad's pre-season training camp in Bad Radkersburg in Austria.

Discussions between the two parties have been prolonged and FCK manager Ståle Solbakken revealed his delight that he has finally got his man:

- We did not acquire Zanka in the January transfer window. Earlier this summer it appeared far from certain a transaction would be made and, at the same time, we agreed to sign Pelle Nilsson.

- Zanka in the last few days of the negotiation process has shown a great hunger to return to FC Copenhagen. We have a common goal of getting Zanka back to his 2011 level after three years of limited playing time.

- Finally, I would like to thank PSV for a constructive and frank dialogue.

Zanka, 24, has so far played 142 matches for FC Copenhagen, helping guide the club into the Champions League last 16 in 2011. He has been handed his old shirt number, 25, while Christoffer Remmer switches to 20.
