Match highlights: FCK 1-0 LOSC Lille

On a rainy night in PARKEN FC Copenhagen pulled off a memorable 1-0 victory over LOSC Lille in the first leg of the UEFA Champions League playoffs. Watch match highlights here, from FCKTV…

On the eve of the game head coach Ariel Jacobs branded LOSC Lille a club of Champions League standard, and they certainly proved their worth on Tuesday evening. However, they could not break through Copenhagen and the Danes now have a healthy lead to take back to France.

Lille had their best chance after a quarter of an hour when Bryan Oviedo fouled Salomon Kalou in the box to concede a penalty. Striker Dmitri Payet stepped up but couldn’t beat FCK keeper Johan Wiland, who flung himself to his left to beat the ball away.

Copenhagen were evidently buoyed by Wiland’s feat of heroism, and just before half time took the lead when César Santin rose high to glance a Lars Jacobsen cross into the back of the net.

PARKEN was buzzing after the goal and the half-time interlude did nothing to tame the atmosphere. As the second half progressed Lille took greater control of the game but couldn’t bypass a sturdy FCK defence.

The 1-0 lead puts Copenhagen in good stead ahead of the reverse fixture next Wednesday in northern France. Watch match highlights here, from FCKTV…
