F.C. København henter Kevin Foley i Wolverhampton

Lions sign Kevin Foley

FC Copenhagen have signed Irish defender Kevin Foley from English Championship side Wolverhampton Wanderers.

Head coach Ståle Solbakken, who managed Foley while Wolves boss in the 2012/13 season, discussed the new recruit with FCK.dk.

- Kevin Foley is a rock solid and experienced defender with experience in the Premier League, the Championship and the Irish national team.

- He will increase competition in the defence and take the pressure off Christoffer Remmer and Ludwig Augustinsson. One is recovering from a long injury while the other is new to the team.

- They will both take a little time before they reach the top level. Now we are heavily protected with Kevin, who is 100 percent reliable.

Speaking of his transfer, Foley told FCKTV he was excited about getting started in his new surroundings.

- It’s great (to be here). I’ve had a warm welcome from the manager and Johan Lange and I’m looking forward to my time here.

- (The fans can expect) hard work and someone who enjoys playing football and wants to do the best for his team and his team-mates.

- I’ve played right-back most of my career, and left-back and midfield a little bit. I’m quite versatile and am someone who likes to play football on the ground and pass the ball.

- I want to settle in as quickly as possible, get into the team, play as many games as possible and make a good impression on my team-mates, the manager and the fans.

- I know this is one of the greatest cities in the world. I’ve not been here before but I have done a lot of research and everyone I speak to say it’s a great place and the people love their football. A lot of people speak English and that will help me.

- I’m looking forward to a new challenge and something that I can hopefully do well in.
