Lions held at home to resilient Randers

Nicolai Jørgensen scored his first Alka Superliga goal since December but it wasn’t enough for FC Copenhagen to see out a win against Randers.

The forward took his time on the edge of the area and faked to shoot before side-footing into the net after determined build-up play from strike partner Andreas Cornelius.

But Baye Djiby Fall bagged a late equaliser when he shrugged off the presence of two Lions defenders to tap home a direct ball.

Rurik Gislason and Daniel Amartey both went close for FCK with first-half efforts from distance, while Danny Amankwaa had a penalty appeal turned down by referee Jens Maae.

And Mathias Zanka saw a late header cleared off the line and substitute Bjorn Sigurdarson nodded wide as Randers held firm.

The away side, meanwhile, threatened occasionally but Viktor Lundberg’s scrambled prod from a knock down in the box hit the post and was cleared to safety.

Stephan Andersen shepherded away an earlier Lundberg chance when the striker capitalised on a Zanka mistake to fire a deflected effort at the FCK goal.

But it was Djiby Fall’s goal, a neat finish to cancel out Jørgensen’s opener, that earned Colin Todd’s men a vital point in the race for a top-three finish - although the striker nearly won it at the death but fired a low effort off the post.

The draw leaves FCK firmly second in the Alka Superliga, 11 points off FC Midtjylland, with their next game a derby in Brøndby after the international break.
