Ståle: Den gamle sang om brændte chancer

Lions draw in DBU Cup semi-final first leg

Youssef Toutouh’s wonder strike wasn’t enough to earn FC Copenhagen a first-leg victory in their DBU Cup semi-final against Esbjerg.

The Lions winger drove in low after dispossessing full-back Ryan Laursen early in the match to hand FCK the lead.

But Esbjerg got their leveller when Mick van Buren headed home Mohammed Fellah’s neat flick, goalkeeper Stephan Andersen stranded.

Toutouh also went close with a curling free-kick and volleyed wide a Christoffer Remmer centre, while Daniel Amartey saw a drilled effort blocked by the covering Magnus Lekven.

The second half saw Nicolai Jørgensen blaze over from the angle and Bjorn Sigurdarson have a header saved from point-black range.

But Copenhagen couldn’t force a winner as the semi-final ended even heading into the second leg in Jutland on Thursday 30 April.
