Lions crowned Champions of Denmark

FC Copenhagen won their third Danish Superliga title in as many years on Thursday afternoon, as their lead at the top of the table became insurmountable.

The Lions began the day 23 points ahead of second-placed OB and, with only eight matches remaining this season, they knew a win away to Lyngby would secure the championship once more.

And yet FCK didn’t even need that, as FC Nordsjælland – in the early kick off of the day – beat OB 2-1. In doing so, Copenhagen’s advantage over their Funen rivals became impossible to beat, which sparked jubilations throughout the FCK terrace as the news filtered through to the stadium before kick off.
