Laudrup: - We can stop FCK

Last weekend, FC Nordsjælland claimed all three points in Haderslev, as they beat SønderjyskE 2-0 to pull away from the bottom of the Superliga. Andreas Laudrup scored both Nordsjælland goals, bringing his Superliga goal tally to three in the process.

Ahead of Sunday’s clash between Nordsjælland and Copenhagen, FCK.DK had a chat with Laudrup; who discussed the spring season so far, which has featured a win, two draws and two defeats:

- We've certainly not got as many points as we had hoped. But looking at the last two matches where both times we kept a clean sheet and got four points, our game has started to improve, which gives us something to work on this spring.

Did Sunday’s victory settle a few nerves, or is the relegation zone still dangerously close?

- It may be, but there is nothing else to do but to take it one game at a time. It’s FC Copenhagen next, but we still just keep focusing on the next game. We can look behind at our last match; find all the good stuff from the game, and we must turn this into something positive when we come up against FCK.

Another clean sheet on Sunday, and one more this weekend and it would be a club record three-in-a-row. Do you think you can achieve this?

- Yes! We know very well that they are a good side, but the belief is that we can stop FCK. Copenhagen have failed to stop their opponents in their last two games, so for us the whole squad has both the motivation and the belief to win on Sunday. But it is clear that every man must work hard for the cause. We have to play the ball like we know we can, and control the game. It's football, and so anything can happen.

To score two goals was fine reward for Laudrup’s performance last weekend, but can he do the same on Sunday?:

- It was obviously nice to score on Sunday because it is something that helps the team a lot. Of course, I would like to continue to score more goals, for that could guarantee success this weekend if I did.

FC Copenhagen v FC Nordsjælland

The club from Farum has played in the Superliga as both Farum BK and FC Nordsjælland. Overall, there have been 27 games between FCK and Sunday's opponent, 20 of which ended with victory for the Lions, four draws, with Nordsjælland notching up three wins. The aggregate score is 53-25 in favour of Copenhagen.

FC Copenhagen have won the last three matches against Nordsjælland. The last meeting was at PARKEN in the 17th game of the season. The game will be remembered by many for the rather curious event that occurred on the half hour mark. With the ball bouncing around in the penalty area, Nordsjælland defender Andreas Bjelland simply stopped, bend over and picked the ball up. One must assume that Bjelland thought the whistle had blown, but it hadn’t. The punishment for his mistake was a penalty that – although César Santin missed the first effort – Claudemir was on hand to smash in the rebound, to put the Lions a goal up. Two minutes later Copenhagen were awarded another penalty, and this time Santin buried his 12-yard effort. Nordsjælland’s Christian Gytkjær reduced the deficit later on, but the Danish champions held out for the 2-1 win.
