Kvist departs for Stuttgart

Kvist earns Player of the Year award - again!

Former FC Copenhagen captain William Kvist has been named Denmark’s Footballer of the Year for 2011.

Kvist, who also won the prestigious honour in 2010, earned the most votes from the Danish Football Player’s Association, with all professional Danish players voting. Kvist was nominated alongside fellow national team players Christian Eriksen, Andreas Bjelland, Dennis Romedahl and Niki Zimling.

On the Danish Football Player’s Association website Kvist said:

- The first time was a very special feeling to be voted Footballer of the Year by my opponents and colleague. But this time feels equally as good. For it shows that the things I did so well at FCK have come with me to Stuttgart too.

- I think I have added an extra layer to my game. That’s really my plan. I want to improve every year, and I think I have succeeded so far in my career. Therefore, I am very, very proud to receive the award once again. It's the nicest prize a Danish footballer can receive.

Kvist was an integral part of FC Copenhagen’s drive to UEFA Champions League success last season, captaining the side to the last 16 of the tournament. The central midfield man lifted the DBU Superliga trophy on the final game of the season in May, before signing for Bundesliga giants Stuttgart in the summer transfer window.

FC Copenhagen would like to offer our congratulations to William Kvist!
