Jørgensen double sinks Helsinki in Europa

Jørgensen header edges Lions past Silkeborg

Nicolai Jørgensen bagged his fourth Superliga goal of the season to see FC Copenhagen past Silkeborg in Telia Parken.

The striker latched onto the end of a deep Pierre Bengtsson cross to loop a header over Thomas Nørgaard and earn FCK a first-half lead that they wouldn’t surrender.

Alex Kacaniklic and Andreas Cornelius also went close for the Lions, while Stephan Andersen superbly tipped over Adeola Runsewe’s ranged effort during a tight encounter.

The win keeps Ståle Solbakken’s men third in the league, now one point off second-place Randers and eight behind leaders Midtjylland.

After the game, FCK.dk spoke to the Copenhagen players to gage their reaction after the hard-fought victory.

Nicolai Jørgensen

- We got the three points and performed well in the second half. It was great to score, and with a header - but we should have scored one or two more. But OK, we won and the goals will come.

Pierre Bengtsson

- We play a solid match and kept Silkeborg from getting chances. Of course, had we scored a second we would have been able to relax a bit. It did not happen, but otherwise we played a good game.

Mikael Antonsson

- Our games can certainly be better - but in the second half we played well and we stopped them from creating any chances, so right now I have a good feeling.

Youssef Toutouh

- We actually started OK, but then we began making too many individual errors and played too slowly. It was better in the second half, the game began to take off.

Tom Høgli

- We deserved the win! We did not play a good first half, but after the break we came good, were in control of the game and didn’t give Silkeborg a single chance.
