Jørgensen doubles up in Copenhagen win

A Nicolai Jørgensen masterclass was enough for FC Copenhagen to beat FC Nordsjælland in the Alka Superliga on Sunday.

The Lions striker opened the scoring on 40 minutes with a towering header after Ludwig Augustinsson had bound into space down the left wing to swing in a high ball.

And Jørgensen was soon celebrating a second when he buried a penalty with the last kick off the first half following a foul on captain Thomas Delaney, who was nudged when competing for an aerial ball in the FCN box.

The second half saw Jørgensen almost turn provider when he chipped over a delightful ball for Steve De Ridder, whose header forced an instinctive save out of David Jensen, while Youssef Toutouh also went close.

As for Nordsjælland, FCK goalkeeper Stephan Andersen saved Pascal Gregor’s close-range header from a free-kick, their best chance of the game.

The win keeps FCK on course for a second-place finish in the Alka Superliga, while they remain 11 points behind leaders FC Midtjylland with eight games remaining.

Next up for Ståle Solbakken’s side is a trip to Randers next Sunday, before the second leg of their DBU Cup semi-final with Esbjerg in Jutland.
