Jensen: - We'll give everything

So it's time for the third New Firm meeting of the season, and unlike the first two ties, on Sunday FC Copenhagen head to Brøndby Stadium. Ahead of the game, FCK.DK caught up with BIF midfielder Mike Jensen, who is no doubt the Vestegnen will do everything they can to give their fans a good experience.

We gave Jensen ‘five quick questions’. Here was his response:

What has gone well for Brøndby this spring?

- Our top performances have been excellent and we have also evolved as a team, plus we have managed to remain in the top three of the Superliga.

And what has not gone quite so well?

- Consistency has not been there. We have swung too much in our performances and we've thrown some stupid points away at home. We have not gotten the points we need – and we usually get – from home.

Brøndby have lost the last four matches against FC Copenhagen. What is your key to success on Sunday?

- Looking at the latest game in which we played a really good first half, it is important to keep that level for 90 minutes, and not just in 45 minutes. We must go beyond giving the crowd a good time, and although Copenhagen have already won the championship, we must show our loyal fans that we are not so far off top spot. We should give them hope: give them value for their money so they can see that our squad is moving forward. It is important that we have our fans with us and important that they continue to stand behind us!

After this game BIF have four remaining – FC Midtjylland, Lyngby BK, FC Nordsjælland and SønderjyskE – to play. How many points is it realistic to get in these final five?

- I would not really answer that, because points are not everything. One of our goals is to finish in the top three, which should be quite realistic to reach. Another goal is medals while we also have a good chance of finishing second. But everything is not just about points, it is important to us that we continue to perform to a high standard that we can maintain and show that the team is improving.

Now you say yourself that you have second place as one of the goals. This probably menas that you still believe you can catch OB, even if they are four points ahead of you?

- Of course we believe in it! Should they lose just one game and we win, we are down to one point between us, and then it's all open again. So we believe in it, and we'll give everything we can to reach second place.

FC Copenhagen v Brøndby IF

FCK and Brøndby met for the first time on 6 September 1992, a clash that ended 1-1. Since the showdown the clubs have met a further 72 times, of which Copenhagen have won 34, 15 have ended as a draw while BIF have won the remaining 24. The goal aggregate is in the Lions favour: 97-89, and therefore Copenhagen could realistically bag number 100 on Sunday. Three goals is what is required, which is feasible considering our current form.

Looking solely at games hosted at Brøndby Stadium, in 36 matches that have been played, FCK have 15 wins, five draws, 16 defeats and a goal aggregate of 41-47.

The Danish champions have won the last four matches against Brøndby, and have not lost to their rivals since 31 August 2008.
