Jacobsen: - West Ham may offer style

Jacobsen signs until 2014

FC Copenhagen have reached an agreement with Lars Jacobsen that will see the right back stay at the club until the summer of 2014.

Jacobsen signed a permanent contract with FCK after an impressive autumn in the white jersey, having been released by West Ham United in the summer. The Danish international has 48 caps to his name, and has UEFA Champions league, Bundesliga and Premier League experience on his CV.

FCK Sporting Director Carsten V. Jensen commented on Jacobsen signing the extended deal:

- Since his ‘homecoming’ in September, Lars has proved to be better than ever on the pitch. Every time we send a player off to further their career abroad, it is with hope that one day they will return to the club with an even higher level of play and can provide additional experience to the team. It is therefore a great pleasure for us that Lars has decided to move back home and become an integral part of FC Copenhagen for the future.

Jacobsen himself was on hand to speak to FCK.DK, and describe his pleasure at re-signing for his old club:

- I am very pleased to have signed an agreement with FC Copenhagen. Since I came back from England in September, I have enjoyed being part of a team with big ambitions. Copenhagen is my club in Denmark and I am looking forward to the challenges that await us in the coming years. I see great potential in the work being done at all levels here at the club, and I am looking to achieve results both at home and on the European stage.

Jacobsen at FC Copenhagen

Jacobsen made his debut way back in March 2004, against Frem BK. It was the beginning of four years at the club where he was a leading force in Copenhagen’s championship-winning sides of 2004, 2006 and 2007, and in the Champions League campaign against Benfica, Celtic and Manchester United in 2006. In total, Jacobsen played 170 matches for FC Copenhagen.

In 2007, Jacobsen headed abroad, where he first played for FC Nuremberg, before going to England to join Everton, Blackburn Rovers and later West Ham. In September 2011, he signed a short-term contract with Copenhagen, which has now been extended for a further two and a half years.
