If we are going to beat Barcelona...

If we are going to beat Barcelona...

Head coach Ståle Solbakken was on hand to answer the media frenzy on Tuesday afternoon, in preparation for FC Copenhagen’s crucial UEFA Champions League tie with Barcelona this Wednesday evening.

- This is really big for the team. My players are in great shape, and we know they (Barcelona) will play at a great tempo in their home ground. It will be a great experience for our players.

Asked about Copenhagen’s chances of a victory against the Spanish giants, Solbakken was optimistic yet realistic:

- If it is going to be, it’s going to be tomorrow. If we are going to beat Barcelona, it will be with this team. We have some players who are daft enough to think we can win it.

The Lions currently sit 12 points clear at the top of the Superliga, have already recorded six points in Group D of the Champions League, and have won eleven of their last twelve matches. However, with FCK still deemed the underdogs for the game, Solbakken was questioned over his potential style of play:

- We know we will be forced to sit back here. No matter what, we must protect our goal. We hope to have a compact team. In a game like this you have two options: sit deep or play your normal game. We will choose to play our normal way. If we get hammered, we will learn much from the game in preparation for the PARKEN match in fourteen days time.
