German with the whistle

UEFA has named the experienced Wolfgang Stark from Germany as referee for the Champions League-game at Wednesday night.

The 36 year old Stark has more than 10 years of experience from the German Bundesliga, and he has been a FIFA officiel since 1999. He recently had to interrupt a game between Hamburger SV and Werder Bremen, because the HSV-fans threw objects after the goalkeeper from Bremen. Hopefully this will not be necessary Wednesday night in PARKEN!

Starks latest appearance in UEFA Champions League was in the first round of the Group Stages, when Olympique Lyon beat Real Madrid 2-0 in Lyon. Actually, he was also the man in the middle, when Manchester United visited Lyon and drew 2-2 in september 2004, but he has not yet been involved in a European match with a Danish side.

On the sidelines, Wolfgang Stark will be assisted by fellow countrymen Harry Ehing and Christian Dingert, while the fourth official is Günter Perl.
