Copenhagen sign new right back

FCK sign old friend

FC Copenhagen have today come to an agreement to sign Lars Jacobsen on a contract that runs until the end of the year. He trained Friday morning and participated in preparation for this weekend's top of the table match against AaB.

Jacobsen, who was without a club after being released from English side West Ham United in the summer, played over 100 games for FCK between 2004 and 2007, and so is no stranger to the set up around PARKEN.

FC Copenhagen sporting director Carsten V. Jensen spoke of his delight at bringing Jacobsen back to the club:

- Lars is a really good player and well liked here. We are very pleased that he will help us this autumn. After Mathias Zanka’s injury, we were landed in a difficult situation but we can now look ahead to the autumn's compact fixture list knowing that we have enough cover in defence.

Jacobsen himself was available to comment on the new deal with his former club:

- It is no secret that I was looking for a contract after my deal with West Ham expired; and have been looking for a new foreign employer. Despite the fact that I have been close several times, for various reasons talks have failed. For a long time I have kept an eye on my old club and I am glad that I can now lend a hand while I get the opportunity to keep in fighting shape, which is important especially in light of the national team's crucial autumn program.

Jacobsen has been allocated his usual number 2 jersey.
