FCK extend Cornelius Olsson contract

F.C. Copenhagen youngster Cornelius Olsson has extended his contract at the club for the next three years.

The defender, 17, joined FCK's Talent Department from OB as a 14-year-old but spent much of his youth at Svendborg fB.

"Cornelius is a great talent in the centre-back position with even greater potential," says development director Sune Smith-Nielsen.

"He has great strengths both mentally and tactically, and has really come into his character since he came here from Funen a few years ago.

"We see a bright future in him, and initially it's on the U19 team, where he must work hard to develop in the right direction and lift himself to the next level. And we look forward to helping him with that work and following him on a daily basis."

Olsson also has cpas for Denmark's U17 national team and says he is delighted to extend his deal in the capital.

"It's a big day for me and my family. I am proud and happy to be able to extend my contract with such a big club as FCK. That has been my goal since I came here," says Olsson.

"My next goal is to become a dominant player in the U19s, and to be one of those who leads the team. But the big dream is of course to move up and play in Parken in front of all the fans at some point.

"But it's about taking it one step at a time, and about working hard in training every day."

Olsson made his debut for the U19s in September and was also in the squad during the UEFA Youth League in the autumn.

"I have to develop on several fronts, both my offensive play on the ball, my tackling, and defending," he adds.

"A player like Valdemar Lund is a great inspiration for me, because it gives extra motivation when you know a player who has taken the same path as you has now broken through to the first team."
