Copenhagen sign new right back

FCK and Nilsson part company

After an evaluation of the first six months of this season, the management of FC Copenhagen has decided to end their relationship with head coach Roland Nilsson. As a consequence, the club have pooled the positions of sporting director and head coach, meaning Carsten V. Jensen is now the new manager of FCK.

FC Copenhagen CEO, Anders Hørsholt, said:

- We wanted to bring management closer to the squad and the squad closer to management. Therefore, this was a logical decision, letting Carsten V. Jensen take over former head coach Roland Nilsson's responsibility for training and match days, alongside his current responsibilities as sports director.

- Meanwhile, we have assigned greater responsibility to assistant Johan Lange as coach of FC Copenhagen. CV has almost 20 years experience at FC Copenhagen as a player, coach and sports director, while Johan Lange's knowledge of the club's founding principles and daily processes means we have found the relationship that can best develop FCK.

- We must recognize that in a new partnership there are always some unknowns that we cannot predict. We note that in this case there was no agreement between FC Copenhagen and Roland Nilsson on how the team should be continued, and therefore our ways parted. FC Copenhagen has nothing to defer to Roland Nilsson's professionalism and personality, and we wish him luck in his future coaching roles.

FCK’s director of sport, Carsten V. Jensen, said:

- I look forward to the challenges that I have received in connection with my new responsibilities at FC Copenhagen. I welcome the opportunity to once again take to the training pitch and to have direct responsibility for working with the players in training and match days.

- We at FC Copenhagen – the coaches, players and managers – are looking forward to working hard together to be best prepared for spring’s crucial matches in the Superliga and the DBU Cup.

The club will hold a press conference at 12 o'clock Danish Time today.
