Igor Vetokele scored his second goal of the season as FC Copenhagen came from behind to beat OB 2-1 in PARKEN on Sunday. The Belgian striker gracefully swept home seven minutes from time after Thomas Delaney’s header had cancelled out Emil Larsen’s early goal.

Copenhagen also suffered a freak injury to goalkeeper Johan Wiland, who was substituted after 16 minutes following a collision with Rasmus Falk. Jakob Busk came on for his second appearance of the campaign and impressed between the sticks.

Head coach Ståle Solbakken named two changes from FCK’s draw with Juventus in midweek, Georg Margreitter partnering Olof Mellberg at centre-half for Ragnar Sigurdsson – while Vetokele started for Nicolai Jørgensen.

Wiland lasted just a quarter of an hour – the goalkeeper spilled Morten Skoubo’s first shot of the game only for Falk to stretch for the rebound. Wiland collected the ball but felt the full force of Falk’s boot on his wrist and was immediately substituted.

Busk was called upon just two minutes into his entrance, advancing from his six-yard box to block a one-on-one effort from Skoubo. He could do nothing about OB’s opener, however, as Larsen charged from the halfway line, fended off a Delaney challenge and smoothly guided his effort into the bottom-right corner for 0-1.

Into the second half and substitute César Santin was inches away from a Lars Jacobsen centre on 65 minutes, the Brazilian stretching at the far post as the ball floated over his head. Success would come eight minutes later, however, when Delaney rose unmarked to head home Pierre Bengtsson’s corner and level the scores.

FCK continued to push but were lucky not to concede when Busk palmed away a Skoubo chance. The Lions’ efforts were rewarded late on when Santin picked the ball up wide right, ran at his man and played a perfectly timed throughball to Vetokele, who first beat the offside trap and then Mads Toppel to guide FCK to their first home win of the season.

Copenhagen’s attention now turns to the DBU Cup, with Hvidore away on Wednesday night before a trip to Brøndby this Saturday.
