Delaney header sinks Vestsjælland
FC Copenhagen prepared for their DBU Cup final with a 1-0 victory over Thursday’s opponents FC Vestsjælland.
The two clubs will meet in Telia Parken just three days after FCK edged a tight Alka Superliga clash in Jutland.
Thomas Delaney’s near-post header from a Ludwig Augustinsson corner on 57 minutes was enough to see the Lions to victory.
Nicolai Jørgensen’s backwards header almost caught stopper Thomas Mikkelsen off guard in a nervy first half, in which the striker also bundled over a free-kick.
And Jørgensen could have doubled FCK’s lead on the hour mark when he mazed into the Vestsjælland penalty area but fired over the crossbar.
With five minutes remaining only a Steve De Ridder deflection prevented a late equaliser for FCV, who will contest their first DBU Cup final on Thursday.
