Delaney has knee operation

Thomas Delaney yesterday underwent a knee operation following last Sunday’s injury away at Lyngby. The midfielder suffered the injury while blocking a shot in the first half, twisting his knee in the process.

He was immediately substituted and following a scan yesterday it became apparent an operation was needed. He is expected to be out of action for at least three months.

FC Copenhagen doctor Morten Boesen spoke to FCK.dk about the injury:

- Thomas underwent surgery yesterday at the PARKEN Private Hospital for a meniscus injury. We expect that Thomas will not be ready to train again for a minimum of three months.

Delaney himself was on hand to speak about the incident and the operation:

- My injury occurred from a relatively harmless situation where I blocked a shot from a Lyngby player and got a twisted knee. Of course it’s annoying to be injured, but I am nevertheless happy that it was not worse.

- I'll have the knee in a splint for a few weeks before I begin rehabilitation. In the next few days I will keep myself in check, so I now have chance to watch a lot of morning TV.

FCK injury status ahead of Thursday’s clash with Brøndby:

Kris Stadsgaard trained today, but the coaching staff believe he is not ready for the Brøndby game. Claudemir is also out of tomorrow’s tie and continues his rehabilitation. Martin Vingaard did not participate in training and is also not in the squad. Mathias Zanka Jorgensen is now training with the team, but Peter Larsson is still incapacitated.
