Cornelius strikes twice in Lions victory

Andreas Cornelius scored twice in a 3-1 win over FC Midtjylland that witnessed a goals flurry at the end in Telia Parken.

Cornelius headed FCK in front seven minutes in but the Lions had to wait until the 81st minute to bag their second.

The Denmark striker side footed home Andrija Pavlovic’s cut-back to put the game beyond FCM’s reach.

Peter Ankersen added a third when he ran from deep and unleashed a left-footed effort past Johan Dahlin from the edge of the box.

And Gustav Wikheim netted a consolation for the visitors three minutes from time, the winger sliding his one-on-one effort under Robin Olsen.

Brøndby’s 1-0 win over FC Nordsjælland means the gap at the top of the table remains 13 points, with leaders FCK requiring two wins from their final six games to be named champions.

Next up for the Lions is a DBU Cup semi-final clash with Vendsyssel on Wednesday.
