Cornelius injured in Lions victory at Silkeborg

Christian Poulsen scored his first FC Copenhagen goal of the season as the Lions beat Silkeborg 4-0  but the game was marred by an injury to Andreas Cornelius.

Poulsen glanced home a corner from the near post on 37 minutes to break the deadlock for FCK, before Youssef Toutouh’s stunning free-kick doubled the lead.

Björn Sigurdarson’s one-on-one chip over the goalkeeper made it 3-0 and Steve de Ridder wrapped up to victory by finishing off Danny Amankwaa’s blistering counter attack.

Despite the victory manager Ståle Solbakken was left concerned with the fitness of Cornelius, who required oxygen as he was stretchered off moments before the opening goal.

Cornelius fractured his ankle in a collision with Dennis Flinta, as physio Anders Boesen explained.

- Andreas was immediately taken to the hospital in Aarhus and I am in regular contact with him and ran there after the game to talk to him and the doctors, Anders explained.

- There are good people in there, so he is in the best of hands. We can not speculate on the extent of the damage and how long it will keep him out, we must await the detailed studies.
