Corner matchvinder i Esbjerg

Cornelius header sinks Esbjerg in Alka Superliga

Andreas Cornelius’ first Alka Superliga goal since November earned FC Copenhagen a narrow victory over Esbjerg.

The striker timed his run perfectly to get on to a deep Ludwig Augustinsson cross and fire a powerful header past Martin Dubravka.

Nicolai Jørgensen saw an early effort well saved by goalkeeper Dubravka while Augustinsson clipped a free-kick narrowly wide of goal.

At the other end Lasse Rise had a claim for a penalty turned down and Kevin Mensah rocketed a shot off target as the Lions held on for all three points.

The win keeps FCK second in the Alka Superliga table, nine points off FC Midtjylland with 12 games to play.

Their next match is against Randers at home on Sunday before a trip to Brøndby in the Derby come early April.
