Copenhagen sign Sigurdsson

Copenhagen sign Sigurdsson

FC Copenhagen have today reached agreement with IFK Gothenburg to sign Icelandic international defender Ragnar Sigurdsson. 24-year-old Sigurdsson has signed a four-year contract and will be present from the team’s training camp this summer.

Following the singing of contracts, FCK Director of Sport Carsten V. Jensen commented:

We have had many occasions to see Ragnar playing for IFK Gothenburg. Therefore it is always a special pleasure when a long-term scouting effort results in a ‘signing’. In this case, we made use of Roland Nielsen’s strong knowledge of Swedish football and of Ragnar. Sigurdsson is already an established player with many games under his belt, yet we see further potential for development.

Sigurdsson himself was on hand to talk to FCK.DK:

I am delighted to come to the best Nordic club. It is definitely a step up in my career to move to FC Copenhagen and Danish football. I am 24 years old and feel that the time is right for me to switch. The Danish culture is reminiscent of the Swedish and Icelandic, so I hope to settle quickly in Copenhagen, and am looking to get started with my new challenges.
