Copenhagen sign new right back

FC Copenhagen yesterday announced the signing of Costa Rican right back and midfielder Cristian Gamboa, who switches from Norwegian club Fredrikstad Fotballklubb to the Danish champions on a four-year contract.

FCK Sporting Director Carsten V. Jensen commented on the new arrival:

- In his relatively short time at FFK, and despite being only 21 years old, Cristian has already distinguished himself as one of the best and most interesting players in his position in the Norwegian league. Therefore, it is gratifying that we can now present Cristian and we look forward to enjoying his qualities in the coming years.

Cristian himself was also available to describe his delight at joining FCK:

- I am very much looking forward to playing for Denmark's biggest club. I know there is fierce competition for places, but I am looking to fight for playing time. It is a big step for me to take, and I look forward to developing myself even more in the company of the best players in the Nordic region.

Cristian will play his last game for FFK on Friday before travelling immediately afterwards to Copenhagen. Cristian will be assigned shirt number 26.
